Fairytale palace

Four turrets, a purple roof and a wide terrace make a palace for a longer building session. Work around the towers together, then add the central hall and entrance.
Before you build
Match the shapes
Compare each part with its picture and count its rows of studs. A square brick has two rows of two studs; a long brick has two rows of four. Use the full parts list for the exact shapes and quantities.
Follow the colours
Match the shapes and quantities. The pictures show our colours. Colour names in the steps refer to the pictures. Keep contrasting colours where they help you recognise the model.
Count the studs
The bumps on top are called studs. Count them when a step asks for a gap or an overhang. Put the build on a flat surface and keep its front facing the same way as in the pictures.
Add a little at a time
New pieces keep their colour in each step. Earlier pieces look lighter so you can see what has changed. Each list tells you exactly what to add.
Build together
An adult can read the steps while a child finds the pieces. The counts are for this one model. For two models to stay built, add their parts lists together.
This is the largest guide in the library. Leave room to keep it in place between sessions. The windows and doorway are open frames.
Gather pieces
Match the shapes and quantities. The pictures show our colours. Choose your own colours for the same parts; changing a part’s shape is a different substitution.
A wheeled base counts as one complete part, including its attached wheels.

Build
STEP 1 OF 29
Make a sixteen-by-twelve foundation from six green base plates. Each plate runs eight studs across and four from back to front.

STEP 2 OF 29
Add four cream base plates lengthways through the middle, two rows in from the back. They cross the seams in the green foundation.

Finish the rear terrace with four cream square plates, from left to right. Their inner two rows rest on the green foundation; the outer two rows overhang at the back.

Finish the front terrace with four cream square plates in the same way, extending two rows beyond the green foundation.

Join the terrace plates with three white long bricks along the rear outer edge, centred across the seams at columns four, eight and twelve.

Place a yellow small plate across the front terrace as the entrance step. Centre it across the middle four columns; the doorway comes later.

Start all four corner towers with a white layer. Use two long bricks side by side at each corner, making a four-by-four square.

Add a yellow layer to all four corner towers. Use two long bricks side by side on each white square, keeping the edges lined up.

Add a white window frame across the front half of each tower. Face the small hinge details toward the front; leave the openings clear.

Place one white long brick behind each tower window, across the back half of the tower. Keep the front openings clear.
