A LITTLE PREPARATION
Gather your pieces
Match the shapes and quantities. The pictures show our colours. Colour names in the steps refer to the pictures; keep useful contrasts, such as a light belly against a dark body.

STEP 1 OF 12
Set two red wheeled bases in a line, leaving two clear stud rows between them. Cover the eight top studs on each with a red 2 × 4 plate.

STEP 2 OF 12
Lay two white 4 × 6 plates end to end along the chassis. Their short ends meet above the gap. Leave one row projecting beyond each end of the chassis.

STEP 3 OF 12
Join the floor halves with two red 2 × 4 bricks side by side. Each brick crosses the floor join, covering two rows on either side.

STEP 4 OF 12
Fill the back four rows with two red 2 × 4 bricks turned across the bus, one behind the other.

STEP 5 OF 12
Put a red 2 × 4 brick across the two rows in front of the join. Add two red curved bricks side by side at the front, rounded ends pointing forwards.

STEP 6 OF 12
Build the lower window row from the back forwards. Put blue 2 × 4 bricks across the back, the next two rows and the front two rows. Leave the middle four rows and the two rows behind the front clear.

STEP 7 OF 12
Fill the middle four rows with two blue 2 × 4 bricks side by side. Put a red 2 × 4 brick across the two remaining rows, just behind the front window, as a solid pillar.

STEP 8 OF 12
Cover the window row with two white 4 × 6 plates, end to end. Line them up with the lower floor.

STEP 9 OF 12
Join the upper floor halves with two blue 2 × 4 bricks side by side, crossing the join as before.

STEP 10 OF 12
Finish the upper deck: blue bricks across the back and front two rows, with red bricks across the two rows just in front of the back window and just behind the front window.

STEP 11 OF 12
Cover the rear eight rows with a white 4 × 8 plate. Add a white 2 × 4 plate across the next two rows.

STEP 12 OF 12
Finish the roof with two white curved bricks side by side over the front window. Their rounded ends point forwards, matching the red front below.

THE LAST STEP OF THE GUIDE
Room for a little more imagination.
Draw a route with three stops. Give each stop a name. Count the upper and lower deck windows as the bus visits each stop. Take turns being the driver and the person announcing the next stop.
