Before you build

Find the pieces

Match the shapes and quantities. The pictures show our colours. Use the pictured part and stud dimensions to find the same shape.

Count the studs

Studs are the round bumps on top. Count the lines of studs across and along a piece. When a step leaves a clear row or column, keep that space empty. Match the picture to keep the model facing the same way.

Follow the colour

New pieces keep their colour in each step. Earlier pieces are lighter so you can see what to add. The finished-model picture shows all the colours together.

Choose how to play

Choose one model and check its pieces first. Take it apart to reuse those pieces for another model. Pack-wide lists are optional planning tools; the exact-colour list follows the pictured palette.

Play materials

Pocket penguin

Draw an iceberg on paper and help your penguin reach it.
Count its two flippers and two wide feet.
Tell a story about a penguin looking for a friend.

Bushy-tailed fox

Draw a winding trail for your fox to follow.
Make a den from a folded sheet of paper.
Take turns telling what the fox finds on its woodland walk.

Big-eared rabbit

Make a paper garden for the rabbit to explore.
Count its ears and point to its little nose.
Tell a story about the rabbit finding a quiet place to rest.

Chunky crocodile

Draw a river on paper and park the crocodile beside it.
Count the bumps along its back.
Make up a story about a crocodile guarding a bridge.

Pond frog

Draw lily pads on paper and move the frog between them by hand.
Count its two eyes and find its broad back legs.
Take turns making up a frog sound and answering it.

Sausage dog

Draw a path and take your dog for a pretend walk.
Give the dog a name and describe its favourite game.
Make a paper blanket for a well-earned rest.

Long-neck giraffe

Draw a tall tree and help the giraffe reach its leaves.
Find the four hooves, spotted body and long neck.
Tell a story about the giraffe meeting a much smaller animal.

Little whale

Draw a sea on paper and move the whale across it by hand.
Find its two flippers, tail and pale mouth stripe.
Tell a story about the whale coming up to say hello.

Cheeky crab

Move the crab sideways across a paper beach.
Count eight walking legs and two claws.
Draw a rock pool and tell a story about what the crab finds.

Rainbow butterfly

Follow the matching colours from one wing to the other.
Draw paper flowers and land the butterfly on them by hand.
Count four wings and find the two antennae.
